Green Circle Growers to Provide 7,000 Plants to Jump Start Community Garden for Hope for Futures: NE Ohio Grown Seedlings to Be Delivered Wednesday June 23

Family-Owned Oberlin Greenhouse Offers Seed Plants to Assist the Growth
of a New South Elyria Community Farm

WHAT:
Ohio’s Green Circle Growers is providing between 6-7,000 plants for a brand new Hope for Futures community farm located in South Elyria. Produce from the farm will be directly distributed through OurFAMILY to 75-100 local families within the community, with primary funding for the project offered by Lorain County Community Action Agency.

Hope for Futures is a Lorain County based 501c3 that works within communities to support individuals whose current poverty diminish their outlook for their future. This will be the first farm placed in the community of Elyria. While other Hope farms exist in Lorain, this model uniquely focuses on effective and high production farming on behalf of the community, with numerous opportunities to engage the community in the process.

OurFAMILY is a 501c3 who provides programming for youth to connect them with mentors and the greater community.

There will be between 10-25 volunteers on-site planting from United Way of Lorain County, along with the core team of the Hope for Futures crew. All stages of the project are in motion, including production, assembly, construction, planting and irrigation installation.  There is no visible plant growth at this time.

In the fall, Green Circle Growers will provide the covering for the hoop structures to protect the plants from the adjusting climate.
